Yesterday morning our director Kayley Hyman appeared on BBC Breakfast to continue the conversation around hoarding disorder being debated in UK Parliament for the very first time.
Following the success of the BBC News feature that ran earlier this year, which followed our partners Clouds End CIC as they first approached MP Paulette Hamilton for her support in establishing national guidelines to support, the House of Commons officially held their first ever debate centred around hoarding disorder on Wednesday 22nd October.
This has inevitably created a national discussion around what hoarding disorder really is, which Kayley was privileged to be able to provide information on, especially highlighting why redefining the outdated and harmful stereotypes around hoarding is crucial for implementing support that reflects its reality as a recognised mental health condition.
We are proud to be apart of this incredible industry, and take pride in standing alongside the individuals, organisations and communities who have worked tirelessly to see a national response in understanding the reality of hoarding disorder and the support it requires. We look forward to supporting the ongoing work needed to ensure long-lasting change!
